But when we talk about “sale”, thousands of bargain-hunting shoppers are expected to troop to the mall hoping to score wallet-friendly deals. The thought alone of shopping with throngs of other people is already discouraging, making shopping less fun. So, before you visit SM City Cebu this weekend, here are some tips to take note of to make your SALE experience fun and worthwhile.
1. Set a Budget
The SM 3-Day Sale can be the best excuse to forget about the budget and just shop-til-you-drop. But, with inflation and our ever-increasing cost of living, you might want to think twice about touching your savings. Leave the credit card at home, and spend only your surplus cash.
2. Make a Shopping List
Discounts left and right could make you go on a shopping frenzy! Just because the discounts are irresistible, it is very tempting to buy things, a lot of them we might not even use. Create a shopping list, and categorize needs and wants.
3. Early Bird or Buzzer Beater?
The best time to go to SM City Cebu this weekend is either early (minutes before the mall opens), or late (just before it closes). But, let me tell you that the first few hours on the first day of the sale is a treasure chest. The best discounted items are yet to be snatched away and you will most probably have them at your size (this is especially true for sizes with limited items like extra small and plus sizes).
Also, going early means parking won’t be a problem, and queues at the checkout counters aren’t that long yet.

Friday (March 15) and Sunday (March 17) – 10AM-10PM
Saturday (March 16) – 9AM-10PM
4. Tag along a friend
Shopping during a sale is like a race. While you are still choosing what to buy, your friend can stand by the checkout counter. Or, that friend could also help you out in deciding whether to buy something or not.
5. Familiarize the mall
SM City Cebu is one of the biggest malls in the Philippines and it can be quite overwhelming, especially during a sale. Based on your shopping list, take note of the location of the shops you’re planning to visit for a more convenient shopping experience.
6. Eat and Dress comfortably.
Shopping during a sale can be physically and emotionally taxing. Make sure you have eaten just enough to sustain you throughout your shopping spree. (Emphasis on “just enough”, as you wouldn’t want to feel heavy and lazy while going around, and look bloated when you try on clothes). Wear your most comfortable shirt, jeans (or joggers), and sneakers as you’re expected to be literally rubbing elbows with a crowd equally-excited as you are.
7. Bring an eco-friendly shopping bag.
Say NO to plastic. Get rid of lugging along multiple shopping bags by bringing your own tote. (Also take note that Saturday is a NO plastic day, in accordance with Cebu City’s ordinance.)
