During my stay at the Grand Westside Hotel, I had the opportunity to dine at LaMeza, the hotel’s signature specialty restaurant and Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ first-ever signature dining concept. Just two weeks after its grand opening, I was among the first to experience this innovative take on Filipino cuisine, and it did not disappoint.

A Refined Yet Welcoming Ambiance

From the moment I stepped inside, LaMeza’s ambiance set the tone for a sophisticated yet inviting dining experience. The restaurant’s modern interior design is accented with subtle Filipino elements, creating a space that is both elegant and comfortable. Soft lighting, well-appointed seating, and a seamless blend of tradition and contemporary aesthetics made for an enjoyable evening.

Starters: A Creative Twist on Filipino Favorites

Adobo Mushroom Croquettes – A crispy exterior gives way to a savory filling of mushrooms and adobo pearls, topped with a delicate mushroom tuile and black olive accents. This appetizer provided a delightful balance of textures and flavors, setting the stage for the courses to come.

Pork Belly Sinigang – This clear sinigang consommé was served with tender vegetables and succulent pork belly. The broth offered a perfect balance of sourness and umami, making it a comforting yet refined start to the meal.

Main Courses: Elevating Filipino Classics

Humba – The slow-braised pork belly was perfectly tender and paired with banana saba and cashew adlai rice, offering a rich, deeply flavorful dish with a touch of sweetness and nuttiness.

Grilled Tuna Belly – This was my absolute favorite of the night! Cooked to perfection, the tuna belly was accompanied by rosti sweet potatoes, pineapple salsa, and a soy-calamansi sauce. The combination of savory, citrusy, and subtly sweet notes made this dish a standout.

A Sweet Ending: Mille Feuille with a Filipino Flair

Mille Feuille – A delightful fusion of textures and flavors, this dessert featured crispy puff pastry layered with banana-langka filling, drizzled with caramel, and topped with ube-langka chantilly cream. It was the perfect ending to an exceptional meal.

Impeccable Service

Beyond the impressive menu and ambiance, LaMeza’s service was top-notch. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and provided excellent recommendations. Shoutout to Carla who made sure all our needs were attended to. Their warm hospitality and impeccable timing further enhanced the overall dining experience.
