Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte (September 7, 2024) – The 5150® Triathlon Dapitan and Go for Gold Sunrise Sprint are back for their second edition in the historic city of Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines. This exciting event will feature over 400 athletes from 12 countries racing through a 51-kilometer course that includes a 1.5 km swim starting near Punto del Desembarco De Rizal along Sunset Blvd., a 40 km bike course towards Dapitan City Hall and the Dipolog-Oroquieta National Road, and a 10 km run with scenic views of heritage houses and historic landmarks.
“We are thrilled to host the triathletes and their families once again in the heritage city of Dapitan,” said Dapitan City Mayor Seth “Bullet” Jalosjos. “The event not only features a challenge to be won by the athletes but also celebrates our rich heritage. Through these events, we hope to inspire our youth and community for a bright future by promoting sportsmanship and positive competition.”
Event Highlights:
The 5150 Triathlon will also host the Go for Gold Sunrise Sprint, welcoming both seasoned athletes and newcomers to the sport. This shorter race, with a 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run, offers a fun and competitive environment for participants of all ages. According to Jeremy Go, Powerball Vice President for Marketing, “Short course triathlons promote community health and fitness by encouraging everyone to participate, leading to a healthier lifestyle and improved wellness.”
