The realme 9, the newest addition to the realme 9 series is now available nationwide in a 6GB+128GB variant retailing for only PHP 14,999 SRP. As I got to explore the newest phone over the last few weeks, let me give you reasons why you should get the realme 9.
1. Ripple Holographic Design
realme is known for its unique back covers with every new release, which resonates with the youthful energy and modern vibe of their market, and the realme 9’s back features as Ripple Holographic Design (for the Stargaze White and Stargaze Gold variants), inspired by sand dunes. When it interacts with light, the back looks like waves of colors. The unit with me is the Stargaze White and it is my favorite color because it feels really premium and looks amazing when held.
2. Slim and Lightweight
The realme 9 is 7.9mm slim and 178g light, slim enough to fit in your pocket and light enough to fit in your bag.
Despite being slim and light, its grip was good and I noticed that the back cover doesn’t get smudged that easily (compared with the realme 9i). The phone came with a free clear jelly case so I put it on right away for added protection.
On the left side of the phone is the dual SIM and microSD tray and the volume buttons. On the right side is the power button. The phone has a microphone at the top and bottom. The bottom also has the earphone jack, speaker grille, and USB Type-C jack.
3. 5000MAH massive battery and 33W Dart Charge
For me, bringing along a powerbank is so 2020. realme 9’s 5000 MAH battery is capable enough to last the whole day even with relatively heavy usage (gaming, Netflix, social media). I can go out the whole day with my phone without having to worry about my battery, and as soon as I get home, I can charge it with minimal downtime. Based on my experience, charging from less than 20% to full charge takes less than an hour with the 33W Dart Charger that comes in the box.
4. In-display Fingerprint Sensor with Heart Rate Monitor
Although the usual fingerprint sensor on the power button unlocks the phone faster, the in-display fingerprint sensor on the realme 9 is very sharp. It also comes with a Heart Rate Monitor which can be accessed through Settings > realme Lab > Heart Rate Measurement. It’s probably not something you will be using on a daily basis but something that will come in very handy when the need arises.
5. 90Hz Super AMOLED Display
Was really glad to know that the realme 9 comes with a Super AMOLED Display (vs. realme 9i’s LCD display). The 90Hz Smooth Display presents a very smooth visual experience. The 360Hz touch sampling rate allows for fast response with no lag especially in gaming. With fast hands, one could easily dominate Mobile Legends, lol. I
Its front camera is a very small punch hole in the display resulting to a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio allowing for an immersive streaming and gaming experience.
Outdoors? realme 9’s maximum brightness of up to 1000 nits allows for a comfortable viewing experience even when outdoors.
6. Power-efficient processor
The realme 9 is backed by the capable and battery efficient 6nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 Processor which allows multi-tasking and switching between apps with ease and without consuming too much power. We can definitely play intensive and heavy-duty games or binge-watch shows on Netflix without worrying about draining the battery or experiencing annoying lags.
7. 108MP ProLight Camera
The realme 9 is packed with a flagship-level triple camera setup that will allow users to #CaptureBeyondLimits. It is bannered by its main 108MP main lens powered by a Samsung HM6 Sensor which allows up to 9 images to be used in pixel-binning so better image quality can be achieved even in low-light situations.
It is also equipped with an 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens + 2MP macro lens for new perspectives and creative angles.
For the front camera, it is a 16MP Selfie Camera. I have not fully explored the camera yet as it has dozens of creative modes, filters, and even allows for manual settings if you feel like taking over.
For videos, the camera does not come with stabilization so it’s a no for me especially with my shaky hands.

For me, the realme 9 is a good all-around phone, a great combination of design and performance. Compared to the other phones in this price segment, the only reason for you to dismiss the realme 9 is that it’s not 5G. If you’re fine with 4G, this phone is amazing for daily use!
