Disney has officially unveiled Filipina actress and singer Kai Montinola as the voice behind “Hangganan Ko,” the Filipino version of the iconic song “How Far I’ll Go” from the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s Moana.
Fans can stream “Hangganan Ko” on digital platforms beginning July 3, 2026, ahead of the highly anticipated Philippine theatrical release of the film on July 8.
Kai Montinola Brings a Fresh Filipino Voice to Moana
For Kai Montinola, lending her voice to one of Disney’s most beloved songs is a dream come true. A longtime fan of Moana, she shared how deeply she relates to the character’s inspiring journey.
“My favorite part of Moana’s journey is that she didn’t think she was perfect. She doubted at first, but she chose that fear. She chose to seize that fear, and there she was destined to do greater things,” Montinola said.
The young actress and singer explained that Moana’s story of overcoming fear and embracing one’s purpose has inspired her since childhood, making the opportunity even more meaningful.
Disney: Kai Montinola Is the Perfect Voice for Today’s Generation
According to Allie Benedicto, Marketing Director for Emerging Southeast Asia at The Walt Disney Company, Moana has always resonated with Filipino audiences because of its universal themes of family, courage, and a deep connection to the ocean.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Kai Montinola on the Tagalog version of ‘How Far I’ll Go.’ Kai embodies today’s young Filipinos who are full of grit yet filled with warmth, making her the perfect fit to sing ‘Hangganan Ko’ for today’s generation of Disney fans and moviegoers,” Benedicto said.
